As part of our programme in Africa to make drama accessible for all, the Academy has now translated the famous Helen O’Grady programme into French. This is thanks to the hard work and foresight of our Moroccan Principal and Franchisor, Houda Farrahe.In these photos you can see the children of the French School in Cape Town,
L'Ecole Française du Cap, having such an amazing time working with theatre in the French language. The Helen O’Grady Drama Academy already runs the programme in English to help with the spoken language skills but this addition in French is a major enhancement to the school.Traditionally in the French national curriculum performance arts are not taught to young children but this Cape Town school took the wise decision to bring this programme into its school day. The results have been amazing. Not only are the children must more confident but their English, and now French language skills have improved exponentially.
This incredible programme developed internationally now over nearly 40 years improves the following skills:

Stimulates right brained and creative thinking2. Self-Esteem
Is developed to give children a belief in themselves.
3. Communication
Is the key to success in our personal lives and work.
4. Confidence
Confident people are much more able to face the challenges of our world.

Probably THE most important – we help children to see that negativity can be overcome using positive thoughts and emotions.
7. Academic Development
Research has shown that children who attend drama programmes are much more likely to achieve academically.
