Star in a production and it will change your life!

If you want to improve in your overall confidence and communication skills, the best way is to be part of a stage production. Children and adults who partake in the Helen O’Grady programme very quickly learn how to bury their fears by having lots of opportunities to perform in front of others. Half way through the Academy’s year, our students get the opportunity to perform in short workshops of the Academy’s curriculum. Parents and friends are always wowed by the amazing ability of the actors as well as how incredible this international curriculum actually is.
Adult Drama in Cape Town - amazing skills in acting

An example of this in progress was the performance recently of our adult group from Newlands and our children’s classes in Tokai. They all performed together on the stage at the Magnet Theatre and they just were amazing. Students focus on the Academy’s curriculum to develop verbal and non-verbal skills as well as improvisation. Though this, and the opportunities to perform in front of others, the children and adults very quickly learn how to be at ease in front of large audiences.

From the little ones performing in ‘The Hare and the Tortoise’,  to the Upper Primary’s play ‘The Curse of the Pharaohs’, to the adults version of Macbeth, the stage was just so vibrant with enthusiasm and enjoyment of communicating through the power of the voice and body. Likewise because improvisation skills have been taught, the children adults were just able to be spontaneous on the stage.
