Hooray! the advanced acting course for teenagers comes to Hout Bay. Sign up for your free first class in January, 2016

Do you want to improved your acting skills or confidence?
Classes cover a wide variety of activities to develop excellent skills.
We also use our productions as a teaching tool. In 2016 the Youth Theatre will be performing a version of Shakespeare’s Macbeth at the Magnet Theatre using mask. This is an amazing opportunity for any aspiring actor and is used to train the students in gesture and good vocal expression, as well as Shakespearian performance technique. In some of the previous years, students have performed in the genres of pantomime, physical theatre, melodrama, horror and murder mystery.
The Helen O’Grady Drama Academy’s famous Youth Theatre programme for young people aged 13-18 will open in January next year in Hout Bay. This drama school’s programme focuses on training children in acting skills for film, radio, theatre and television. The students will follow the Academy’s acclaimed international drama programme.
Classes in Hout Bay will be held at the Museum Library Hall, next to Kronendal School on Mondays from 5 - 6 pm. Students will learn follow the Academy’s incredible acting course for those wishing to pursue acting as a career. Likewise, people who are lacking in confidence for speaking, are naturally shy, will also find this an excellent course to boost confidence.
Classes are fun and involve amongst many other activities:
- speech work to develop good powerful and expressive voices,
- movement to use the body as a good communication tool,
- improvisation to develop as-libbing and creative thinking,
- script to bring whats on the page alive on the stage
- theatre games to stimulate spontaneity in acting.
