The end of year production of our Adult drama classes show the excellent communication and performance skills

The Helen O'Grady Drama Academy's Adult Drama classes operate from the Athenaeum in Newlines on Thursday evenings from 7-8 pm. The aim of the Adult classes is to develop confidence in communication and also help those who want to pursue acting as a career.

We have a wide range of adult students who attend. Some come for the fun, some for presentation skills, some for public speaking skills and some for performance skills. Studying drama as an adult is a unique and fun way to overcome the fear of speaking in public. The Helen O'Grady Drama Academy's international curriculum is renowned for the development of all people in a positive working environment.

This year the adult actors performed a magnificent version of Macbeth to a delighted audience of children and adults at the Magnet Theatre in Cape Town. Directed by Sue Wigham, their teacher, the play also included three of the Academy's teachers, Sunette Strydom and Alvina Stollenkamp, together with the troupe of marvellous adult actors.

From witches to the evil Lady Macbeth, the play was fast paced and exciting with some humour dropped in to give this famous Shakespeare play even more zest.  Smoke swirled around the stage and created a magnificent setting for the misty moors of Scotland.
