Inspiring children for a love of Shakespeare with the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy at Herschel Prep School
Many traditions and language come from the plays written by William Shakespeare and it is very important that we instil a love for his plays in young people. The Helen O'Grady Drama Academy works internationally with many primary schools to cultivate a love of the bard from an early age. Studying Shakespeare therefore becomes easier when they reach secondary school.
Here you can see Midsummer Night's Dream which was performed in the Herschel Theatre to a delighted audience. These students showed how much they have enjoyed the experience of working on this piece with their wonderful teacher, Sunette Strydom. Their excellent acting and understanding of their individual characters was carried through in an enthusiastic and vibrant production.
The Helen O'Grady Drama programme runs in many of the top schools throughout Africa, giving children a head start in communication and language skills as well as the performance arts.
