Atlantic Beach College (ABC) from Melkbosstrand puts on fantastic show of How the Lion got its Roar for the public at the Magnet Theatre in Cape Town

Under the direction of Helen O'Grady Drama Academy's fabulous teacher, Michelle Nothnagel, the children of Melbosstrand's private school, Atlantic Beach College, put on three most spectacular shows: How the Lion got its Roar was performed by the younger group.

This private school really does believe in the all-round holistic development of children and use drama as one aspect of their development. This this programme, children develop confidence, self-esteem, communication and performance skills.

To be able to speak with clarity and confidence is a great gift for future success - the Academy's programme really does try to bring out the best in speech and communication which was extremely evident in the fun and enthusiastic performances of the children.

In the early years, drama teaches children how to socialise effectively and gives children a voice to express themselves and their feelings. As they get older in this famous international curriculum, children develop more of their right brain and the creative aspects help to become much more spontaneous speakers. The ad-libbing and improvising on the stage really showed how this works!
