For many children, there dream is to work professionally as an actor. The children from our Newlands studio are regularly performing in theatre, film and on television, and for them, this is a dream come true. From the Lower Primary to the Youth Theatre, the children at the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy in Newlands show great acting ability and our annual Parents and Friends Days really brought this to the fore.
Although many are already child starts, the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy is not in the business of only producing accomplished actors. The programme these students follow is an international curriculum to develop confidence in communication together with acting. The two make an extremely well-rounded individual.
Classes in the Newlands Youth Theatre focus on film, theatre, radio and film. Voice work, mime and improvisation are some the main activities taught but the breadth of this international curriculum of this curriculum develops all aspects of communication and self-assuredness.
