International school drama curriculum at Bergvliet Primary School in Cape Town

The Helen O'Grady Drama Academy runs many school programmes around the world using its extensive speech and drama curriculum developed since 1979. Our drama schools brings out the best in all children and works in conjunction with the school curriculum and the national curriculum of South Africa.

As you will from these photographs with our teacher and vice-principal, Sunette Strydom, and our Principal from Botswana, Priyanka Handa Ram, the children have such fun in these classes.

Research has shown that children who attend drama classes in school and out of school are more likely to achieve academic success, more likely will want to take up leadership roles and develop in confidence for communication. This is why drama should be core subject as part of any school curriculum.

In South Africa, the schools that believe in developing children holistically, are the ones that actually achieve better academic results. Children at these schools are stimulated so that they have an interest for learning.
