An outstanding performance of Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' by the Youth Theatre students of Bonteheuwel
The Helen O'Grady Drama Academy's youth theatre curriculum is designed to stimulate and develop young people in confidence, speaking and performance arts skills. Many of our students, through our casting agency, Aardvark Casting act in film, theatre, television and radio. The idea is that each year we give our Youth Theatres a new challenge in a theatrical genre so that by they end of their time with us, they will be versatile actors. In other words, we don't just do productions for production's sake, but we use the productions as a teaching tool.
This year we used Shakespeare as a teaching tool for stage directions and strong exit and entry points. The resulting performance by our Bonteheuwel drama class was quite outstanding, thanks to the brilliant direction of our fabulous teacher, Sue Wigham.
Drama students in Cape Town are so lucky to be getting such high quality, international work from our curriculum and expert teachers. This why we have such good results in the performance industries from out students.
