Our 13-year-old drama pupils at one of Cape Town's premiere drama schools pulled off a fantastic performance of the 'Macbeth'. We are extremely proud of the students for performing this physical theatre piece using masks with such vigour and understanding. Lady Macbeth was amazing in each scene as was Macbeth and all the other characters of this play including Duncan and Banquo.
The Academy's aim to make Shakespeare accessible and meaningful for children is really working. These young people, when they go to High School next year will have an deep knowledge of three Shakespeare plays performed on the evening.
The Academy believes that Shakespeare is one of our foundations of theatre and therefore the study of Shakespeare brings children to an understanding of the joys of studying these wonderful plays and theatre in general.
