For many years the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy has been running its award-winning drama classes in Bonteheuwel
We are very proud of our teacher, Anastacia, and the children of Bonteheuwel who attend our international drama school on a weekly basis after school.
The programme aims to develop good speaking voices by focusing on projection, articulation and jaw exercises. Part of the speech training also looks at the development of a good tone to the voice using forward placing exercises and expression.
Following this the students work on non-verbal communication techniques using a programme of mime. Together with the non-verbal and the verbal communication, the children quickly become strong and effective communicators.
Using improvisation techniques, the Academy quickly trains the student how to be sharp on their feet and have the confidence to make up lines without a script.
Consequently these young people are excellent actors and confident performances.
