The lower primary class of children, aged 5-8, started with
the play ‘The Emperor and the Nightingale’.
With magical Chinese costumes and carefully choreographed movements,
these young children really showed how they were able to bring life and colour
of this story to the stage. When a grey
nightingale which was kept in a golden cage to sing to the Emperor was replaced by a magical mechanical bird,
the nightingale flew back to the forest but was called back when the mechanical
bird failed. The children sang their songs and danced their hearts out telling
about how the nightingale’s song was best sung in the forest.
