Rising Star, Phoenix Kirkwood, wins t-shirt design competition

Phoenix Kirkwood, a student at the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy in Hout Bay, won a competition to design a new t-shirt for the Academy. His idea which with a world and a man standing on top with the wording 'All the world's my stage' was the outright winner. Principal of the Academy, Duncan Rice 'The Helen O'Grady Drama Academy is a child-centred drama school and therefore we try to use the creative ideas of the children as much as possible. Phoenix's design really sums up what our Academy is about in developing confidence, self-esteem and giving children the ability to believe in themselves. Changing Shakespeare's line slightly creates the dramatic effect we were looking for on a t-shirt which is about a drama school.' The Cleanest Town in Texas performed at the French School, Cape Town

'The Cleanest Town in Texas' is a story set in Abaline, a town that has no drinking, no smoking and no swearing, until Lulabelle arrives on a stagecoach and changes everything. She joins forces with the town's scamster and together they steal the propert of all the people in the town. However, soon Jellybone, Lulabelle's assistant, gets his revenge by selling a plot of trick land to them. The students performed this play with authentic Wild West accents much to the amusement of the audience.
