Right-brained teaching and learning important in the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy Goodwood

Unfortunately through the emergence of results-based education, which has its place, the less tangible subjects have been avoided or swept aside as they do not give schools the required number of passes. As a result, schools have sadly dropped the importance of the arts in order to encourage more academic results. Because of these targets set by governments and education authorities, much right-brained creative thinking has been lost. School-based learning is much of the time about acquisition of knowledge rather than creative application. Yes, we do need scientists but scientists devoid of creative thinking skills will not encourage ingenuity and new developments on the scale that we need.

At the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy we encourage, in a proactive way, right-brained thinking and creativity. Here you can see our Goodwood studio in Cape Town in action with their wonderful, teacher, Megan Sell.
