John Graham Primary Drama Classes

The importance of drama in the curriculum at schools cannot be underestimated. John Graham Primary is a school which recognises the importance of drama. Unfortunately many schools do not offer drama or have suffiently trained drama teachers to run a programme which develop creative thinkers and it is creative thinkers who will help our world to develop into a better place for all.

The Helen O'Grady Drama Academy's self-development programme used worldwide is run in many schools in Cape Town either as their drama programme or as an after school activity. The schools who really do become successful have an extensive after school programme so that children are occupied after school in activities which will give them life-long benefit.

One of the sad things in the South African education system that schools sit empty from 2.30 in the afternoons and these wonderful facilities are just left, unless you have a school and principal with foresight. Schools, should be the hub of the community and not only offer classes after school but further education for parents in the evenings.

Likewise, a balanced curriculum during the day, which includes drama, music and other creative and expressive subjects will make the learning experience more enjoyable and experiential.
