Camps Bay Drama Classes

The Helen O'Grady Drama School in Camps Bay opened its doors to the new year at St Peter's Church Hall. Camps Bay students come from all over the city including Sea Point, Greenpoint, City Bowl and Hout Bay. We have a fantastic attendence from St Cyprian's School, Camps Bay Primary, Camps Bay Preparatory and Camps Bay High. We also have students from the Sea Point Primary and High Schools.

The Academy aims to develop confidence, self-esteem, creativity and communication skills using an international programme which has been developed over 30 years of experience world wide. The classes are taught be expert teachers who all have an extensive training in the Helen O'Grady system as well as having their own dramatic creativity. The Academy pays much attention to staff development and before the term starts, the teachers workshop the new term's curriculum, making sure that any new techniques and the latest trends in drama education are imparted.

The Academy takes in children and youth from age 5-18 and adults. There are vibrant adult classes running on Thursday evenings in Newlands. It is the aim of the Academy to reach out to all people and help them acquire the necessary skills to make them confident, all-round people able to give excellent presentations at work, become confident public speakers and of course, excellent actors.

Aardvark Casting is the Academy's sister company to promote the students and adults in film, television, radio and theatre. Most recent achievements include four students in Antony and Cleopatra at Maynardville. Some students of the Helen O'Grady students can be seen in the latest Woolworths Adverts and of course many of the face of the back to school campaign for Pep Stores are Helen O'Grady Students.

Here you can see Niki Hodson, the teacher having lots of fun with the students.
