Macbeth - Shakespeare through Drama

As one of the world's leading education institutions, it is important that our curriculum is modern and relevant to the children, and for this reason, the Cape Town Academy of the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy believes strongly in the development of material with a strong educational basis. Our youth theatre students will at some point in their secondary school career study Macbeth and our team have recently written a version of this famous play using many of Shakespeare's words for their end of year performance. This will give our students a head start in their studies as many of the major themes will be covered in their performance. Likewise, for this production students will be using neutral mask, to teach this interesting technique for stage, and encourage our students to use voice and gesture to create a dramatic context. In this photo you can see our staff workshopping the play, during our recent staff training, and learning how to impart this valuable technique to the students, to make this a truly educational journey.
