Worcester Studio in the news

The Helen O'Grady Drama Academy started in Worcester this year at the United Church Hall, Church Street, in Worcester. The Academy will also start classes at Lanner House Private School as well. It is fantastic for the children and youth of Worcester to have this international programme running in their town and the Academy is very pleased to have the expertise of Jacolize Kroon running these classes. Prospective students can attend their first lesson for free to see if they like it! We know they will, as our course has over 60,000 young people worldwide attending our classes.

Worcester is abuzz with Drama!

With the addition of the new Worcester studio, the Helen O’Grady Drama Academy has become the leading community drama school in the Western Cape, with over 2500 students from 5-18 years attending classes each week.

After many requests from parents and schools in Worcester, the Academy has started its award-winning international programme at the United Church in Church Street on Tuesday afternoons from 3-6 pm. Parents are invited to contact the head office in Cape Town for registration as classes are fill very quickly. Students can attend this Academy from age 5 to 18 without ever repeating a lesson. Students are allowed to attend for a free trial session.
The Academy’s affordable classes attract a wide range of young people, from those seeking to increase their confidence and speaking ability, to those hoping to pursue a career in the theatre. The dynamic, theatre-arts programme encompasses a 13-year development cycle of curriculum providing students with a great diversity of material.

Today, many people do not develop as successfully as they should, because of their inability to express themselves clearly. Often they speak indistinctly, answer in incomplete sentences and maintain poor eye contact in discussion. The Academy’s unique programme develops all the necessary communication skills so that its students will become confident, articulate young people, who will stand out from the crowd in school, future business and in life in general.
The Academy’s expert teachers are fully vetted, fully qualified and have all undergone extensive training in the Helen O’Grady curriculum and teaching methods to ensure each student is encouraged in a warm, positive learning environment, where mutual respect is a high priority. Jacolize Kroon is the teacher of the Worcester studio and comes with a wide range of experience in the arts and is an expert teacher of the Academy’s curriculum. Jacolize said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for the people of Worcester. Having the Helen O’Grady Drama Academy in Worcester allows our children to get training on an international level.”

Principal of the Helen O’Grady Drama Academy, Duncan Rice, said: “Students are made to feel very welcome and many parents comment on the quick progress in communication skills developed through our unique curriculum. The classes help young children from age five to gain the necessary skills to help them develop into well-rounded confident people, ready to tackle the challenges of our fast-paced world.”

The Helen O’Grady Drama Academy is the world’s largest drama school with over 60,000 children attending classes each week and has studios in 26 accessible locations and 20 of the top school in the Western Cape and surrounding areas.
