The Helen O'Grady Drama Academy runs classes for the old age-groups at Herschel Preparatory School. Last year's Grade Six classes put on two spectacular performances at the end of the year. Many of Cape Town's top private and government schools use the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy's international programme as part of the school drama curriculum. The Herschel girls are all excellent at performance, showing great confidence on stage and wonderful communication skills because the school has encouraged drama participation from an early age. The benefits of drama cannot be underestimated and it is the forward-thinking schools that realise the huge difference that a drama course can make in these young lives. Most importantly drama allows opportunities for young people to understand and enact the many different situations which are thrown at us in this fast-moving world. It gives young people a better understanding of conflict and how to resolve issues in a mature manner.
