Today, we visited Star of the Sea Convent School in Kalk Bay, Cape Town. This school has had the foresight to add drama as a subject in the school. It cannot be over emphasised how important drama is in schools. Learning good communication skills is the key to success in life, and this can be easily done through a good drama course. The Helen O'Grady Drama Academy has developed a programme over 30 years of experience worldwide to help achieve these aims. The Academy operates in over 20 schools throughout the Western Cape. Our teacher, Tia van Greunen-Brady, is one of the teachers teaching at Star of the Sea. The children adore her and they younger ones always give her a big hug when they see her. It was fantastic to watch her fun-filled classes this morning. Angela Lee-Wright teaches the school on Tuesdays and Tia on Thursdays. We have a three clubs running at the school on Tuesday afternoons for different age-groups.

The Grade 7s performed a quick-fire dialogue to help gain an understanding how to make script more realist for stage, film and radio work.

The Academy has a casting agent called Xtreme Characters www.extremecharacters.co.za and students enrolled with the Academy's after school programme can join.
