Are there any benefits of creative play for children?

Our young children's brains these days are so focused towards analytical thinking, writing the next exam and the  pressure to achieve by teachers and adults.  On top of this there is television, computer games and mobile phones to add to the passivity of communication.

It is important to stop and just let children be children and explore themselves in a positive learning environment. The Helen O'Grady Drama Academy's world renowned programme develops children's creativity by allowing them the opportunities to use their imagination in this way.

The benefits of this are huge as it helps to:

1. Develop intellectual curiosity
2. Increase critical thinking skills - problem solving and trying out new ideas
3. Activates motor skills and develops coordination
4. Enhance emotional well being by allowing opportunities to express feelings
5. Socialisation:  to communicate with others and make friends
6. Develop language skills

Here you can see our Lower and Upper Primary classes in Newlands, working with our wonderful teacher, Debbie! These kids really do know how to use their imaginations to the full.
