'Romeo and Juliet' at Herschel Preparatory used the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy's Unique programme for schools works on play and song composition, choreography and acting

Here you can see 'Romeo and Juliet' written by the Grade 7 children of Herschel Preparatory School in Cape Town. Following the Academy's unique programme of musical theatre, the children in Helen O'Grady Drama Academy's programme wrote the musical score and adapted Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet' themselves with their teachers, Sunette Stydom and Liezl Boyd.

The end show was a huge success demonstrating the incredible talent and creativity at this wonderful school, where every child is encouraged to achieve their maximum potential.

The Academy has developed a scheme of work to develop musical theatre writing skills as well as training children in the direction and choreography of a musical. The music and script kept the audience enthralled throughout their performance showing how well they have grasped some complex ideas.
